Three popular market radiation protection fabric

Currently, there are three main types of radiation-proof fabrics available in the market. The first is a stainless steel fiber blend fabric, the second is a metallized fabric, and the third is a silver fiber fabric. Each has its own unique characteristics and applications.

The First Type: Metal Fiber Blended Fabric

Metal fiber blended fabrics are made by weaving stainless steel fibers with cotton or synthetic fibers. The effectiveness of these fabrics in blocking radiation depends largely on the proportion of metal fibers used and their quality. The diameter and strength of the metal fibers significantly impact the shielding performance. Higher purity and better quality of the metal fibers result in more effective protection. As a result, the cost and quality of the stainless steel fibers directly influence the overall performance of the fabric. Typically, the content of stainless steel fibers ranges from 20% to 25%. In tests conducted between 8 kHz and 20 GHz, these fabrics can achieve an average shielding effectiveness of about 30 dB, which is sufficient for general computer and electrical equipment protection.

The Second Type: Metallized Fabric

Metalized fabrics are produced using advanced techniques such as multi-target magnetron sputtering and composite coating. These materials are then used to create anti-electromagnetic radiation clothing. They offer excellent shielding performance, with an average effectiveness of up to 60 dB in the 8 kHz to 20 GHz range. However, one major drawback is that they are not breathable and cannot be worn directly against the skin. Additionally, some metallized fabrics may contain harmful substances, making them less ideal for prolonged use.

The Third Type: Silver Fiber Fabric

Silver fiber fabric is made from imported silver fibers, which are known for their excellent conductivity. These fibers are often combined with nylon filaments and processed through special techniques. This type of fabric is lightweight, thin, and highly breathable, while also being durable and resistant to washing. It provides outstanding electromagnetic shielding, with a blocking rate of up to 99.999% in the frequency range of 10 MHz to 30 GHz, as tested by the National Testing Center. It meets the electromagnetic compatibility requirements across various industries, including electronics, workplace safety, maternity wear, communications, military, aerospace, and medical equipment. Today, it is considered the most advanced and ideal radiation protection fabric in China.
