Three popular market radiation protection fabric

Currently, there are three main types of radiation-proof fabrics available in the market: stainless steel fiber-blended fabric, metallized (coated) fabric, and silver fiber fabric. Each has its own unique characteristics and applications.

The First Type: Metal Fiber-Blended Fabric

Metal fiber-blended fabric is created by weaving stainless steel fibers with cotton or synthetic fibers. The effectiveness of this fabric in blocking radiation depends largely on the quantity and quality of the metal fibers used. The diameter, strength, and purity of the metal fibers significantly impact the fabric’s shielding performance. High-quality metal fibers ensure better protection, while lower quality can lead to reduced effectiveness.

As a result, the cost and quality of the metal fibers directly influence the overall performance of the fabric. Typically, the stainless steel fiber content ranges between 20% and 25%. In tests conducted between 8 kHz and 20 GHz, these fabrics usually achieve an average shielding effectiveness of about 30 dB, which is sufficient for general computer and electrical equipment protection.

The Second Type: Metallized Fabric

Metalized fabric is produced using advanced technologies such as multi-target magnetron sputtering and composite coating. This process creates soft, shielded materials that are then used in anti-electromagnetic radiation clothing. These fabrics offer excellent shielding performance, with an average effectiveness of up to 60 dB within the 8 kHz to 20 GHz range.

However, one major drawback of metallized fabric is that it tends to be less breathable and may not be suitable for direct skin contact. Additionally, some products may contain harmful substances, making them less ideal for long-term wear.

The Third Type: Silver Fiber Fabric

Silver fiber fabric uses imported silver fibers, known for their excellent conductivity, combined with nylon filaments. This fabric undergoes a special manufacturing process, resulting in a lightweight, thin, and highly breathable material. It offers superior resistance to washing and maintains strong shielding performance over time.

According to tests conducted by the National Testing Center, silver fiber fabric can block up to 99.999% of electromagnetic waves in the frequency range of 10 MHz to 30 GHz. It meets the electromagnetic compatibility standards required in various industries, including electronics, workplace safety, maternity wear, communications, military, aerospace, and medical equipment.

Today, silver fiber fabric is considered the most advanced and ideal choice for radiation protection. The clothing made from this fabric not only provides excellent shielding but also feels soft and comfortable. It is durable, washable, and contains numerous metal cations that help in sterilization and deodorization. Regular use of this fabric can promote microcirculation in the skin without causing irritation or harm.
