What are the special requirements for color pepper cultivation?

  Color pepper is one of the more popular vegetables in recent years. Its color is diversified and nutritious. Its planting and other peppers are slightly different. Today, Xiaobian will share with you the special requirements of color pepper cultivation:

First, the selection of color pepper cultivars

When selecting a variety, first consider the local conditions and market needs, and do not blindly plant. Then it should be comprehensively determined according to the shape, color, size and variety of the fruit, maturity, disease resistance, yield, adaptability, price and sales. The red varieties of suitable color pepper varieties are: Hongyingda, Red Luodan, Century Red, etc.; yellow varieties are: Huang Oubao, Taranto and so on. The red and yellow varieties are the colors that appear when the fruit is ripe. Therefore, the color is mainly observed when harvested, red and yellow when mature, and green when immature.

Second, the growth period of colored pepper

Colored bell peppers are generally cultivated in the long season (10-12 months in the growing season), and ordinary sweet peppers are generally cultivated only in the short season (3-5 months in the growing season).

Third, the characteristics of colored pepper varieties

The varieties of colored peppers are generally thick and strong, and the leaves are wide. It is suitable for long-term cultivation. The requirements on the fruit are strict. The shape of the fruit is square or rectangular. The top depression is small and the color is bright. The thicker the flesh, the sweeter the taste and the better the taste. The single fruit weighs 150-250 grams and is a superior fruit. Ordinary sweet peppers are not strict in terms of fruit shape and flesh thickness. Disease resistance, high yield and high quality are the main measures for common sweet pepper varieties.

4. Cultivation density and pruning of colored pepper

Because the color pepper and ordinary sweet pepper have different requirements on the product form, there are also great differences in cultivation. This is the key technology for color sweet pepper cultivation. In production, ordinary sweet peppers are planted at a high density, sometimes cultivated at each hole, and the maximum density can reach 8,000 per acre, and no pruning or hanging vines are carried out. The planting density of color peppers is only about 3,000 per acre, planting a single plant, leaving 2-4 branches per plant, and cultivating the vines.

Five, color pepper leaves

Ordinary sweet peppers generally do not carry out the fruit thinning work in the lower part of the plant. The earlier the better, the better the harvesting of the tender fruit does not affect the normal growth of the plant. The color peppers should be removed from the lower part of the plant, which is good for the vegetative growth and then the fruit, so as to increase the yield.

6. Differences in fruit harvesting period

The colored peppers are generally old cooked peppers (white and purple peppers are tender peppers). It takes 50-60 days to bloom to maturity under normal conditions. The lower the temperature, the slower the discoloration, and some can reach 90 days. The average sweet pepper blooms to green ripe and takes about 30 days to go public.

Seven, color pepper production

Under the same conditions, the output of colored peppers is slightly lower than that of ordinary sweet peppers harvested with tender peppers, but sometimes the yield of colored peppers will be higher due to the season or variety, and the yield per mu is about 7,000 kg.

Eight, color pepper cultivation season

1. Long-season greenhouse cultivation. Seedlings are planted in mid-July, planted in August, harvested in early November, and pulled from June to July in the following year.

2. Spring greenhouse cultivation. Seedlings will be planted in early January, planted in late March, harvested in late June, and ended in March and March.

3. Summer greenhouse cultivation. Seedlings are planted in April, planted in mid-May, harvested in late August, and ended in May of the following year. The fruiting period of this cultivation method is in the double festival period, the price is high, and the sales are fast. Colored bell peppers can be stored for 20-30 days under normal conditions, which is longer than the storage time of ordinary sweet peppers.
