U.S. Air Force actively explores advanced acoustic sensor technology

It is reported that the U.S. Air Force is actively exploring advanced acoustic sensor technologies to locate, identify and track squirrel-sized targets and create an activity map containing frequency and location information for researchers to conduct research.

Specifically, the U.S. Air Force is seeking a rugged portable voiceprint identification device with positioning accuracy within 2 meters. The device must be able to withstand a temperature range of 0 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit to withstand the desert winds of 50 mph. In addition, the device needs to be able to record at least two weeks of valuable data.
