The Russian National Research University of Technology and Technology has developed a new thermal box device that converts heat into electrical energy, which can use human body temperature to charge various electronic devices. Related research results were published in the "Renewable Energy" magazine.
The idea of ​​using body temperature to generate electricity is not new, but previous devices of the same kind cannot provide enough power for charging devices. Russian scholars have developed for the first time a new type of hot box using oxidized metal electrodes and aqueous electrolyte. This solution helps to increase the current, reduce the internal resistance, and greatly increase the power compared with similar products.
Igor Burmistrov, a researcher at the University’s Department of Basic Nanosystems and High-Temperature Materials, explained: “The material of the thermal box device we designed can be fixed on clothes and use body temperature and the environment to power electronic devices. The temperature gradient is everywhere. They all exist and surround us. This type of device helps to absorb the energy emitted by industrial facilities, buildings and other energy sources into the environment."
In the future, the researchers plan to make an electrochemical condenser, which will be charged by simply contacting the heating surface and charged for a long time.
