Glass classification and use matters needing attention

The use of glass in the decoration is very common, from the use of exterior windows to indoor screens, doors, and so forth. We will discuss this aspect.

Simple classification of glass is mainly divided into flat glass and special glass. Flat glass can be divided into three types: flat glass (slotted/non-slotted), flat-pulled flat glass and float glass. Due to the fact that float glass is uniform in thickness, flat and parallel on the upper and lower surfaces, coupled with high labor productivity and beneficial to management and other factors, float glass is becoming the mainstream of glass manufacturing methods. While there are many varieties of special glasses, the following description of the common varieties of decoration:

First, ordinary flat glass.

1, 3--4 centimeters glass, mm is also called PCT in daily life. What we call 3 PCT glass is glass with a thickness of 3mm. This type of glass is mainly used for picture frame surfaces.

2, 5-6% of glass, mainly used for exterior wall windows, doors and other small area light modeling and so on.

3, 7--9 centimeters of glass, mainly used for large screens such as indoor screens but with frame protection.

4, 9--10 centimeters of glass, can be used for indoor large-scale partition, blocking rods and other decoration projects.

5, 11--12 centimeters of glass, can be used in the ground spring glass door and a large number of active pedestrians in the partition.

6, more than 15% of the glass, generally less on the market, often need to order, mainly for a larger area of the floor spring glass door wall whole glass wall.

Second, other glass

As far as other glasses are concerned, it is not the industry’s official classification that the author uses the flat glass in the classification. There are:

1. Tempered glass. It is a kind of pre-stressed glass made of ordinary flat glass after reprocessing. Tempered glass has two major characteristics compared to ordinary flat glass:

1) The strength of the former is several times that of the latter, the tensile strength is more than 3 times that of the latter, and the impact resistance is more than 5 times that of the latter.

2) Tempered glass is not easily broken, even if it is broken, it will be broken in the form of particles with no sharp corners, and the harm to the human body will be greatly reduced.

2, frosted glass. It is also re-sanded on plain flat glass. Generally, the thickness is usually less than 90%, and the thickness is more than 5 and 6 centimeters.

3, sandblasted glass. The performance is basically similar to that of frosted glass, and the different modified frost is sandblasting. Because the two are visually similar, many owners and even decoration professionals have confused them.

4, embossed glass. It is a flat glass made by calendering. Its greatest feature is the opaque light transmission, and is often used in toilets and other decoration areas.

5, wire glass. It is a kind of impact resistant plate glass made by inserting metal wire or metal mesh into glass plate by rolling method. When it is impacted, it will only form radial cracks and will not cause injury under the armpit. Therefore, it is mostly used in high-rise buildings and factories with strong turbulence.

6, hollow glass. The glue is used to keep two pieces of glass at regular intervals. The space is dry air, and the surrounding area is sealed with sealing material. It is mainly used in renovation projects with sound insulation requirements.

7, laminated glass. Laminated glass is generally composed of two layers of ordinary flat glass (which can also be tempered glass or other special glass) and an organic glue layer between the glass. When damaged, the debris still adheres to the adhesive layer, avoiding damage to the human body caused by debris splashing. Mostly used for renovation projects with safety requirements.

8, bullet-proof glass. In fact, it is a kind of laminated glass, but only glass with high strength is used to form the glass, and the number of sandwich layers is also relatively large. It is mostly used in renovation projects such as banks or luxury homes where safety requirements are very high.

9, hot bending glass. The flat glass is heated and softened in the mold, and then the annealed curved glass is formed. The frequency of appearance in some advanced decoration is getting higher and higher, need to be booked, there is no spot.

10, glass bricks. Glass bricks are basically the same as flat glass. The difference is the molding method. In the middle is dry air. It is mostly used for decorative items or light-transmitting shapes that require thermal insulation.

11, cellophane. Also called glass film, with a variety of colors and designs. According to the different properties of the paper film, it has different properties. Most of the heat insulation, infrared rays, UV protection, explosion-proof and so on.

Third, glass construction and use of the matters needing attention

1, in the transport process, we must pay attention to fixed and soft pads. The erection method is generally recommended for transport. Vehicle drivers should also pay attention to maintaining a stable and moderate speed.

2. If the other side of the glass is closed, pay attention to clean the surface before installation. It is best to use a special glass cleaner, and to be dry after it is confirmed that there is no stain before installation, it is best to use clean construction gloves.

3, the installation of glass, to use silicone sealant for fixing, in the window and other installations, but also with the use of rubber seals.

4, after the construction is completed, should pay attention to affixed anti-collision warning signs, generally can be used stickers, color electrical tape, etc. to be prompted.
