Elevator use precautions

1. It is strictly prohibited to use your hands to move the elevator door while riding. Once the door is opened, the elevator car will stop immediately, which can trap passengers inside and disrupt normal elevator operation. More seriously, it could even lead to people falling into the hoistway or suffering from shear injuries.

During the elevator’s operation, passengers must not attempt to open or manipulate the car door. If the door is opened while the elevator is moving, it will trigger an emergency stop, causing passengers to be trapped and disrupting the elevator's normal function.

Therefore, whether the elevator is running or stopped, actions such as squatting, leaning on, pushing, or relying on the floor or car doors are all considered dangerous behaviors that should be avoided at all times.

2. Why shouldn't children ride the elevator alone?

Summary: Children should never be left unattended in an elevator.

Correct practice: Always have a responsible adult accompany them. Young children lack the ability to understand elevator safety rules and may act impulsively or accidentally press buttons, leading to potential dangers. In emergencies, they may not know how to react, making them more vulnerable to harm.

3. Why shouldn't you jump inside the elevator car?

Jumping or shaking the elevator car can cause the safety devices to malfunction, leading to the elevator stopping unexpectedly. This can trap passengers inside, damage the elevator components, and disrupt its normal operation. Such behavior is not only unsafe but also increases the risk of accidents.

4. What to do when the elevator is overloaded?

Summary: Do not enter the elevator if it is overloaded. Passengers already inside should step out, and those waiting outside should not enter until the load is reduced.

If the elevator exceeds its rated capacity, it will trigger an overload alarm, preventing the doors from closing and the elevator from starting. At this point, anyone entering should exit immediately. Severe overloading can result in equipment failure or personal injury, so it's important to follow these safety guidelines carefully.

The above four points explain some of the most common unsafe behaviors associated with elevator use.
