What is CPVC?

Cpvc Compound

(Novista - CPVC compound)

CPVC is the acronym for chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, a type of construction pipe designed for fluid transport. And it is suitable for use with hot and cold potable water.

CPVC is a thermoplastic produced from the chlorination of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin. This type of tubing is of a more flexible and heat resistant design than PVC tubing. The highest temperature can reach 110°C, the long-term use of temperature can reach more than 95°C.

In appearance, CPVC is typically light-gray or yellow. Light-gray CPVC uses the nominal pipe sizing (NPS) system and yellow CPVC uses the copper tube sizing (CTS) system.

CPVC is more expensive than PVC but cheaper than iron and copper. CPVC is largely resistant to the effects of acidic, alkaline, and inorganic chemicals. Due to its cost, heat-capacity, and chemical resistance, this plumbing is more properly suited for commercial/industrial applications.
