Seco Tools: the king of milling for efficient production

He introduced tooling solutions for typical parts such as engine blocks, cylinder heads, crankshafts and connecting rods, covering the areas of turning, milling, drilling, reaming and boring. Taking the cast iron cylinder as an example, the machining process is introduced in detail. The base surface of the cast iron cylinder head adopts a newly designed face milling cutter with a V c of 125 m/min and a Vf of 1337 m/min, which ensures good verticality and flatness. The processing of various surfaces used to be double-sided octagonal, single-sided four-blade, and close to 45° face milling. In the past two years, the newly introduced milling cutter has a double-sided 16-blade, one-sided octagonal angle, and the roughing depth can reach 6mm (but depending on the rigidity of the machine tool), which further improves the machining accuracy and production efficiency. The tool is also characterized in that the positioning groove of each blade is ground and has a positioning cylinder on the cutter body to ensure the cooperation of the blade and the cutter body and the end face jump of 5 μm, thereby prolonging the service life of the cutter. For the roughing of the part close to 90°, the 88° lead angle milling cutter is used; the surface roughness of the finished milling surface of the cylinder can reach 0.8 μm. For the finishing of gray cast iron cylinder heads, the use of boron nitride (CBN) tools is five times longer than conventional tools, feed is eight times higher than cermet tools, and the average machining time of workpieces is reduced from 3.5 minutes to 24 seconds. The efficiency is greatly improved. The drilling process uses an interchangeable crown diamond, and the reamer series is more comprehensive. The tool diameter ranges from a few millimeters to 30 mm. The adjustment is flexible and the machining accuracy can reach six.
