Hardware companies need to customize their own information solutions

In March 2012, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China officially launched the "E-Commerce" Twelfth Five-Year Development Plan. The plan set a goal for e-commerce transaction volume to quadruple by 2015, surpassing 18 trillion yuan. It also highlighted that over 60% of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would regularly use e-commerce platforms. Industry experts noted that by around 2015, the e-commerce service sector would reach a turning point, shifting from rapid growth to more sustainable development. In today's society, where information technology is advancing at a fast pace, it has become essential for all industries—especially hardware companies—to enhance their level of digitalization. But what exactly does enterprise informatization mean? In simple terms, it refers to how companies align with external conditions, effectively utilize information resources, and ensure that production and business operations run efficiently through timely information processing, smooth data flow, and high-quality performance. For discrete manufacturing industries, this involves digitization, integration, flexibility, and intelligence in production processes, as well as the networking and globalization of manufacturing systems. Every stage of an enterprise’s operations now relies heavily on information technology, communication tools, and management systems to collect, store, process, and transfer data. In essence, enterprise informatization means applying IT to restructure core business processes, strengthen operational control, and ultimately boost competitiveness. The rapid growth of the information industry has been driven not only by government policies but also by the rising demand for digital solutions among SMEs. This has created significant opportunities for the domestic hardware industry to evolve and improve continuously. Currently, the domestic hardware industry is moving toward greater standardization, serialization, flexibility, and precision. With the global manufacturing shift to China following its WTO accession, both local and international hardware firms are facing intense competition. To stay competitive, hardware companies are adopting information management tools to speed up market response, better control costs, and increase production flexibility. This enables them to navigate a more challenging business environment and enhance their overall competitiveness. Despite these trends, many hardware companies still have concerns about "informatization." For example, investing substantial time and resources into building an IT system may result in a long return on investment cycle, making it difficult to keep up with the fast-changing needs of the business. Moreover, generic IT systems often fail to meet the unique and complex requirements of specific companies. This highlights the fact that many hardware companies find that off-the-shelf information programs do not truly improve customer efficiency or solve real-world problems. Therefore, hardware companies must develop customized information strategies based on their own operational standards and challenges. By focusing on tailored corporate governance, they can comprehensively enhance customer efficiency and effectively address their most pressing issues.
