**Abstract**
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the development of superhard materials, the National Superhard Materials Industry Conference was held on April 8th at the Hongfeng Hotel in Shenzhen, Luohu. Organized by the Hunan Superhard Materials Association, the event attracted over 150 industry leaders, experts, and professionals. Among the attendees were Yu Ming, Secretary General of the Hunan Superhard Materials Association; Lian Weiji, President of the Guangdong Hardware Abrasives Industry Association; Professor Wang Guangzu from the Zhengzhou Abrasives Grinding Research Institute; Wang Feixiang, General Manager of Luoyang Qiming Superhard Materials Co., Ltd.; Qiu Xinguo, Chairman of Jiangsu Fengtai Diamond Tools; Li Xiaoxia, Secretary General of the China Steel Structure Association; Dong Xinye, and other notable figures in the field.
The conference focused on the theme “Structural Transformation, Upgrading, and Innovation.†Secretary General Yu Ming opened the meeting, emphasizing that transformation and upgrading are essential for enterprises to remain competitive in the global market. He highlighted that China’s current economic challenges include an unbalanced corporate structure, overcapacity, and low efficiency. To address these issues, he suggested optimizing existing equipment, expanding production capacity, and improving conversion rates.
Yu Ming also pointed out that while the government has emphasized the need for structural transformation, many companies lack a clear understanding of its urgency and importance. Some even pursue transformation blindly. To overcome this, he urged the industry to adopt advanced technologies such as brazing and coating, enhance independent innovation, and invest in scientific talent. He stressed that interdisciplinary collaboration is crucial for meaningful innovation.
In addition, he noted that the global economy is unpredictable, and domestic and international markets are highly competitive. Energy conservation, emission reduction, and the development of a green economy are critical challenges for Chinese enterprises. Business leaders must think creatively, develop high-tech products, analyze market trends scientifically, and build confidence to overcome obstacles.
Following the opening remarks, Wang Feixiang from Luoyang Qiming Superhard Materials Co., Ltd. presented on the intelligent cylinderless six-sided top press, highlighting its ability to reduce piston and cylinder wall strain and improve structural stability.
Several other industry leaders then delivered technical reports, including Zou Dan from Hunan Boyun Oriental Powder Metallurgy Co., Ltd., Yang Zhiwei from Beijing Antai Steel Research Superhard Materials Co., Ltd., Zhang Zhan from Shaoguan Saipu Superhard Materials Technology Co., Ltd., Ding Xiaoyang from Suzhou Nanhang Tenglong Technology Co., Ltd., Dr. Dong Shushan from Huanghe Cyclone Co., Ltd., Zhang Kui from Zhengzhou Zhongnan Jiete Superhard Materials Co., Ltd., Professor Xu Guoping from Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Peng Wen from Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group, and Wang Xinting from the Management Committee of the New Material Industrial Park in Zhengzhou City.
Their presentations covered topics such as quality control of high-performance carbide large top hammers, the development of diamond sawing tools, diamond crystal manufacturing technology, surface metallization of diamonds using brazing, compatibility of prealloyed and elemental powders, the application of CBN in modern processing, PDC technology, new high-performance anvils, and the cooperation between the Zhengzhou (Ying Yang) New Materials Industrial Park and the superhard materials industry. The discussions were lively, with participants taking detailed notes and engaging in deep conversations about the future of the industry.
